On my second dive at San Carlos Beach in Monterey Bay, CA we went to the Metridium Fields and got dive-bombed by this Cormorant. This is at about 50′ deep.

Not every day you get to see a Cormorant diving under water – and be there right along with it in the Monterey Diving Experience!

Overview of the archaeology of the Royal Presidio Chapel of Monterey, California. Founded in 1770, the existing chapel has been re-christened the San Carlos Cathedral. Most “significant building” in early California.  Joint military and church project in 1770.

Dive at San Carlos Beach (Monterey Bay). We visited the Metridium Field and encounter an ocupus and a crab as well as the usual fish, starfish and anemones.

Much better than average video of a Monterey Dive near the Coast Guard Breakwater at San Carlos Beach in Monterey. Clarity and sharpness is good. Worth seeing just to watch the octupus! Didn’t realize the anemones got that big either. NICE!

The oldest building on the Monterey peninsula is the Royal Presidio Chapel, also known as the San Carlos Cathedral. It was founded in 1770 by Fr. Junipero Serra as part of the Spanish Presidio. It still stands today and continues to function as a church, making it the oldest continuously functioning church in California. Come visit this National Historic Landmark with its ornamental architecture and large archives of religious and historic artifacts and art.

Elkhorn Slough is one of the largest and last remaining coastal wetlands in California. It is one of only 17 estuarine reserves in the US. Located at the center of Monterey Bay, it is home to all kinds of wildlife – otters, sea lions, 350 species of birds, fish and hundreds of invertebrates.
