Fort Ord Dunes State Park

Fort Ord Dues State Park & Beach!

Fort Ord Dunes State Park just opened in April of 2009. It is near Marina, and south of Marina State Beach.  This park is accessed thru Fort Ord and was a weapons firing range for the military.

There is a nice board walk with benches and a great view of the dunes, coastline and the beach. There is beach access thru a ravine. You need to stay on the roads, board walk or the path to the beach and the beach. The dunes are fragile and home for lots of wildlife, birds and plants.

Parking: Free, closes  1/2 hour after Sunset.

Pets: Dogs must be on leash, must stay on paved road portion, not allowed on beach.

Bathrooms:  Large portapotty.

Handicap Accessibility:  Paved roads thru a portion, handicap portapotty, short board walk accessible. No access down to the beach.

Directions:  From Highway One take Lightfighter Dr. (stay towards right).  Turn Left onto 2nd Ave., then left on Divarty St. and then right onto 1st St. then turn left on to 5th and cross the overpass.  It will look very deserted getting there – old army barracks and so on.
